Right?! I feel the same way about Sternfeld, Shore, Misrach, and other classic landscape photographers. If anything, their work seems to get better with age, which you can especially see with Shore's photographs.
That one is remarkably composed! It reminds me somewhat of Paloma Dooley's fence image from her project Plain Sight. I find it interesting how photographs from across time can relate to one another. It definitely shows the consistent tradition of landscape photography!
As I had said previously, the $25 you paid was the exhibition fee for our Book & Exhibition call for entries that concluded in September. The end result of that call will be a new photobook, but the book does not exist yet. The conclusion of the call just started the next phase of the process, which is selecting which photographs will be included in the book and pair creation (Everyone who submitted will receive a $25 credit towards purchasing it once the book is complete).
There were over 13,000 images submitted to this call, so I'm sure you can appreciate that it is an enormous undertaking just to look through that many images (and pairs). My ultimate goal is always to put together the very best book I possibly can. This takes countless hours of analyzing images and making difficult decisions. This isn’t a process that can be rushed, so please be patient with me as I work on it. I promise I’ll be in touch as soon as I have an update to share.
In the meantime, my associate curators and I are actively looking for opportunities to use submissions for Artist Features. However, please keep in mind that even though we’re on pace to feature over 3000 images this year, that’s only a fraction of the work submitted. So it could realistically take a couple years (or more) to get through everything we want to feature.
