I so enjoy when a photo reminds you of something from your childhood you forgot about. I grew up in NM and as I scrolled through these photos living in New England I saw something from when I was a kid.
The ROADWAY trailer. I remember seeing those so often and it is crazy that, now some 36 years later, a familiar logo can bring me back. Ahh the beauty of photography.
I love landscape photography so much for that very reason Kevin! Our minds hold onto visual information for a really long time, so a lot of landscape work can take you right back to your childhood if it's capturing the region you experienced much of your life in.

All of these go so hard, one of the best sets yet! I particularly love the two photos featuring tires, the one with the tires wrapped around the telephone pole and the second of the trailer loaded with tires. I always enjoy photographing scenes with tires myself, as there’s no shortage of them and they’re often used in peculiar ways; they’ll probably remain here way longer than us humans too, our own man-made cockroaches.
Haha thanks Justin! I'm really happy you like it! The tire images are some of my favorites too, I'm a sucker for a good tire image, especially if it is a big pile of them! They totally are man-made cockroaches, they always stick around forever and we produce them in such mass quantities.
Thanks for sharing. I love Mark Power's work. Especially his ability to take ordinary subject matter and bring it to life. He is also so precise with his compositions. Definitely a master photographer.
Compelling images. The first one is obviously intense and dramatic, and the one of the man staring off at the smokestack with (I'm assuming it's) fog all around him, that one really hit me hard.
Me too Donn, that's my absolute favorite of the set. I'm already obsessed with industrialism (especially smokestacks), so with that combined with an amazing mood really elevated that image for me. There's something really bittersweet about it, it reminds me of the refineries across the river from where I live. A lot of folks, including myself, will just stare out at them at night at one of the "scenic areas" along the river.
Yes, the one with the president head statues was taken in Houston! There may be a few others that I'm missing. The house on fire and power line image with the pink facaded building are in Pearsall and Killeen TX respectively!

Just saw the second edition of The Shipping Forecast; it retails for $65 (although ya can get it cheaper)- can't go wrong if ya like B+W scenics, and ya get 130 reproductions that could go for actual prints if put behind glass! This color proves he excels at both ends of the medium...
I want to photograph like Mark Power when I grow up.
