The shadow from the trophy over the flag in Nicolo's work works brilliantly with the title 'In the Shadow of Giants' for the project. I wonder if that is where the inspiration for it came from? The colour palette in Reinis' really suits the subject matter and adds to the ethereal quality of the photography. Again two photographers work who i'll continue to keep an eye on.
That’s a great observation Christian, I completely agree! That’s a good question, I’ve heard the phrase before, but I’m not sure about its origins. Yeah the stylized palette definitely complements the mood of Reinis’ work. Glad we could help introduce you to them!
Beautiful work! I checked out the artists website and love the project. I’m finding it very inspiring to see how people build out the world in their projects and visually tell a story. Any chance you would write about this? I’d love to hear your thoughts on world building in photography projects. Each so different and so unique. Awesome feature!
That’s great that you’re diving into the artists websites, often times what we’re showing here is just the beginning. That’s another great suggestion Peter, keep these coming! I’d definitely be interested in writing about building out the story of photographic project.
Very happy to introduce you to them Donna! I’m really excited to hear you’re taking advantage of the links. I want SO to be a great curated collection of contemporary landscape and documentary photography, but I also want it to be a resource for taking a deeper dive into each artists work. That’s kind of photography that I appreciate most. Images that are evocative, but open ended enough that each individual viewer is able to bring their own personal meanings. That’s exactly what it’s all about for me.
Love finding new artists through all of your weekly features.
That’s great to hear, that’s one of our main goals with our artist features!
Making new Substack friends and love your work! Subbed and followed!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that! Nice to meet you Lofi!
Reinis depicts some wonderful southern gothic energy with his work. They look like thriller movie stills. Really haunting and impactful.
I think that they were actually taken in Eastern Europe, but southern gothic energy is a great way to describe them! Definitely a cinematic mood.

I hope you do Noah
A stellar showcase, as always! Inspiring work.
